2015/16 Statistical Project Competition for Secondary School Students (Junior Section)

25 June 2016

The Statistical Project Competition for Secondary School Students has been an annual event of the Hong Kong Statistical Society since 1986/87. This year, a team of our school joined the competition and won the Third Prize in the Junior Section. They also won the Prize for the Best Index Application in the Junior Section. The team members collected statistical data about the two air quality indexes in Hong Kong, i.e. Air Pollution Index (API) and Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), and analysed the data using proper statistical strategies and draw relevent statistical diagrams to present the data. They analysed the data to discuss about the change and the effectiveness of the two indexes in providing information to the general public about the health risk related to the air quality. A poster is designed for the competition. The project title is "Evolution of Air Quality Index".
