Maker Fortnight: History Department

In March, a workshop titled 'Getting to Know Leonardo da Vinci' was held in the school hall for our students. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the famous artist and inventor by having them build a bridge with wooden sticks inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's ideas. Approximately 50 students participated in the workshop, which provided them with a fun and educational hands-on experience.

Visiting Sam Tung Uk Museum

Archeology Club organized the activity for the students in 3 March 2023. The theme of the learning activity was named "Tour of Sam Tung Uk Museum".

Constructed in 1786, Sam Tung Uk founded by the Chan clan in Tsuen Wan is a Hakka walled house of historical and heritage significance in Hong Kong. It became declared monument in 1981. Sam Tung Uk was converted into a museum in 1987.

Careers Guidance Committee - A Visit to Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science

In order to enrich students' experience in career and life planning, our students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences on 11th February, 2023. Students were introduced the history of medical development in Hong Kong, the plague and the usage of Chinese medicine. In general, students have learned a lot and the feedback was positive.

Life Planning Enrichment Program for S1 students

Life Planning Enrichment program was held in the first term. Most of the students could find out their interests in career path in their future throughout some interesting and vivid games and activities. Everyone was involved in it. this program could project their minds into their future likely jobs, like social workers, nurses or movie stars. Parents also got deeper understanding of their children in mindset and personal growth in relation to seeking their favour in their jobs.

Students had options to choose in their future.

2023 Junior Achievement Workshop - Planning with Purpose

On 27th February 2023, there was a workshop conducted by the Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JA HK). Students of Classes 2A, 2B and 2C participated in the workshop. There were 3 sessions, including knowing about oneself, career planning and budget planning. The highlight of the event was a board game about career planning prepared by the host. Students enjoyed playing the board game. In general, students learnt more about life planning and the feedback was positive.

S3 Parents' Talk 3

The 3rd S.3 Parents' Talk was held at the college on 17th February 2023. Careers Guidance Committee invited a guest speaker from VTC to give a presentation about multiple pathways after the completion of S3 study. The parents and students gained more information about future study. In general, the talk was very informative!

Mr. Ma, the career master, introduced the rundown of the third S3 Parents' Talk to parents and students.

22nd Basic Law and One Country Two System Online Quiz Competition

Chinese History Club members joined in the "Basic Law and One Country Two System Online Quiz Competition" on 24th February 2023. The competition was organized by ZhongShan university Law Faculty Hong Kong Students Association Limited.

The purpose behind participating in aforesaid competition is to familiarize our students more with the contents of Basic Law and One Country Two System. Our students had an outstanding performance and have received a number of awards in this competition.

S3 Life-planning Education Enrichment Programme 2022-2023

On 4th January 2023 and 15th February 2023, the Life-planning Education Enrichment Programme was held by CGC for S3 students. As S3 students need to choose elective subjects studying next year, the content of the workshops was related to their future studies and jobs. The tutors guided the students to think about the future. Most students found the event useful to them!

The tutor told the students what requirements they should fulfil to study the elective subjects.

Alumni Sharing 2022-2023

On 13th February 2023, CGC organised an alumni sharing session for our S3 students. 15 alumnus came to introduce the curriculum of different elective subjects and share their experiences on selecting elective subjects. Our S3 students were very active asking many questions about the elective subjects. Through this sharing session, both alumnus and our S3 students gained a great experience expressing their feelings regarding the subject selection.
