Life-wide Learning Day (Economics Dept.) – A visit to the Education Path of the Civil Aviation Department

 Economics Department organized a visit to the Education Path of the Civil Aviation Department on 24 May 2019. There were around 30 students and 2 teachers who participated in the activity. All of them found the visit interesting, informative and educational. The Education Path is constructed inside the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) Headquarters with a view to arouse the interest of the general public in aviation. There are 3 exhibition galleries within the Education Path, each with a particular theme and topic:

Level 0 of the Office Building

3.Introduction of CAD and its functions
4.Staff of CAD
5.International links and collaborations
6.Aviation community and airlines of Hong Kong

Level 2 of Office Building 
1.Dangerous goods and restricted articles in air travel
2.Aircraft structures and materials
3.Aircraft cabin design and safety features
4.Aircraft emergency features and provisions

Level 2 of the Air Traffic Control Centre Building (ATCC)
1.Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations
2.Introduction to Flight Information Region and our responsibilities
3.Mock ups of the next generation ATC consoles to be used in the new ATCC
4.Accident investigation
5.Viewing gallery overlooking the new ATCC
6.Viewing deck overlooking the airport in action and for plane spotting
7.Means to make aviation development sustainable

Students are listening attentively to the instructor explaining the aerial view of the Hong Kong international airport on the luminous glass floor.
Students are paying attention to the explanation of the international links and collaborations and Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations.
Students are watching closely at the model of CAD Headquarters with much interest.
Students are gathered together at the aviation photo gallery.
Students are using the mock ups of the next generation Air Traffic Control consoles.
