Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary Students 2024-25 – Discovering Guangxi: An Exploration into the Landform of Guilin and Yangshuo

In order to broaden the horizons of our students, the school has organized a study tour ‘Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary Students 2024-25 – Discovering Guangxi: An Exploration into the Landform of Guilin and Yangshuo’.

This exchange program offered students with experiential learning opportunities to understand the geological characteristics of Guilin and Yangshuo by visiting several locations, including Seven Star Cave (七星景區), China Karst Geological Museum (中國岩溶地質館), Silver Cave (銀子岩), Shiwai Taoyuan (世外桃源), Yangshuo West Street (陽朔西街), Elephant Trunk Hill (象鼻山) and Lijiang River (灕江). Throughout the program, students understand the importance of establishing natural scenic spots to the development of a city while achieving a harmonious balance between urban advancement and environmental preservation. Additionally, this program provides students with the chance to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, strengthening their connection to the nation and enhancing their sense of national identity.

Students took group photos in front of the Sun Moon Pagoda (日月雙塔), the highest twin pagodas built-in water in the world since the Tang dynasty. They had the chance to visit this historical construction with its unique architectural style.
Students also visited one of the 4A National Tourist Attractions – Shiwai Taoyuan(世外桃源) to learn about China’s natural landscape and its efforts in promoting sustainable development.
Interacting with the ethnic minorities in Shiwai Taoyuan(世外桃源) facilitated cultural exchange and provided a memorable experience for students.
While riding on a boat, students enjoyed the scenic landscape and had a closer look at the 5A National Tourist Attractions – Elephant Trunk Hill (象鼻山), an iconic attraction in Guilin.
Visiting the natural landscapes along the Lijiang River (灕江), students learned about local tourism and discovered the economic and environmental impacts of developing the Lijiang River (灕江) as a tourist attraction to the local community.
