Two teams of students from Form 2 and Form 3 have joined the Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition. They need to design a solution to help improve the quality of life of elderly people living in the North District in Hong Kong. Students were trained by teachers from Liberal & Social Studies and STEM subjects, so that they can analyse the needs of the elderly from the social perspective and apply STEM-related skills in developing a prototype of their solutions. Our Form 2 Team has designed an app which allows the elderly to order food ingredients of or cooked healthy family dishes. This saves them the troubles of taking long journeys to the market and back. A volunteer delivery team will also help maintain a support network in the community. For the Form 3 Team, students plans to use an app to monitor the health conditions of the elderly users. Using AI and big data, early symptoms of some illnesses can be detected for the medical team to follow. Both team hope their ideas can win the support from members of the community on the Community Day and advance further in the Competition.
